Hopefully before reaching this page, you’ve looked through our top ten cross trainer reviews and have a good idea of what sort of elliptical machine is for you. There are a number of things that you need to take into account when choosing the correct one.
Contents
Budget
The first thing you need to look at is your budget, the models that we have looked at range from under £100 to £3,000 for the professional range. With each increment in money you spend there is a step up in build quality and most of the money is spent on the quality of the components for a smooth action and longevity. Once you have established your budget the search should become easier. As a word of warning, though, while most people won’t need a professional machine for home use, it’s wise not to go too cheap either, as you get what you pay for!
How Often Will You Use It?
A lot of us get a bee in our bonnet about exercising and decide we are going to train five days a week when the reality is it is just a fad. If you are a beginner it would be wise to stay in the mid range and budget levels to start with to see if it something you are going to stick at and use a lot. If you are a seasoned fitness guru looking for a machine to use every day then heading up to the luxury range would be a good idea as the build quality will be far superior.
Space
Do you have enough space for the model you would like? If you have a big open space in the garage it is not too big a problem but if you are going to have to squeeze it into a bedroom then make sure you check the dimensions in the detailed review and get a trainer that fits comfortably. It’s all too common that we underestimate how much space that we need for all sorts of purchases, whether that’s a cross trainer, a sofa or other furniture. If in doubt, get the tape measure out!
Do I Need Gadgets?
This is personal choice, a lot of us have a couple of set programs that we stick to and that is enough where as others like to play around with gadget and vary there routine. This is a lot of choice when it comes to programs but they all centre around heart rate, distance and fat burning so don’t be too taken by the highest number of programs, Some people even like to discard the programs and work out their own routines.
Hopefully this will give you enough info to narrow down your cross trainer search, as you move through the site into more detail you should be able to find the perfect cross trainer for you. Good luck!
